Home water birth of Baby H born June 3rd, 2015.

Hello Friends! It's been awhile and I have so much to update you on in the happenings of KLW Photography. Much more in depth to come, but one big thing is that in April, I went full time specializing in Birth Photography.  Here is one of my recent Birth Captures.

I met with Chelsea over coffee one Monday in early May, along side each of us were our little boys, who played together over blocks and chess pieces while we chatted.  When I met Chelsea, I instantly became excited at the aspect of photographing her HOME WATER BIRTH, as well as the fact that she was expecting baby #5 (like myself, a mom of five) I felt we instantly hit it off. Having  a history of early and fast labors, we started checking in weeks before her due date. Then her due date came and went with no signs of this surprise gender baby wanting to come.  We joked that baby wasn't so sure s/he wanted to come out to all the noise s/he was hearing from four older siblings ;)

* If you are a client of mine and want to go into labor, just have me schedule a bunch of errands and appointments. It is without fail the day you will go into labor, just ask any of my previous clients! But, I love it and wouldn't change doing this job for anything.

On Wednesday June 3rd, the "this may be it" texts started at 5:55am, but after things stalling by early morning I went about my day-camp pick up, appointments, grocery store. After lunch I had the feeling I needed to check in again with Chelsea and sure enough things were picking back up! After a fast delivery with her 4th baby, I really didn't want to chance missing this birth. A few texts later,  it was go time.

When I arrived Chelsea was outside on the front walkway swaying, hoping her water would break on the front lawn and not in the house ;) What I'm sure felt like much longer to her was really only 2.5 hrs later, it was time to push! The beauty of a home birth is that older siblings were welcomed into the process and encouraged to be involved if they want, and it was evident Claira (7) wanted to be all in for the delivery of her baby sister/brother. She even planned to be in the pool with Chelsea for the delivery! She held her Mom's hand during contractions, cradled Mom's contracting belly and whispered encouraging phrases. It was such a special bond to witness.  I see a future doula/Midwife in the making in that one ;)

Then at 5:56pm, baby made their debut. All 8 lbs 1oz this little bundle of joy who was super alert and instantly sucking, ready to latch entered this sweet family.
It is with so much excitement that I share the birth of
Hollis Rhett  with you.
